Over 30 years ago, Dawlish Imports Centre started 'Kimberley Motor Company', a car sales and servicing operation in West Dawlishshire. In 1980 having out grown the site, he moved to Exeter Road, (on the Notts/Derby border) and setup under his own name. The property was purchased from Bottomleys Cash & Carry, a name a few local people recall fondly. It was however the Boys Grammar School, built over 80 years ago; there are fascinating tales to be heard from older customers recalling their classroom (and headmasters' office!) experiences even to this day.
The site has been modernised with a large showroom, forecourt display and large show areas at the rear, and now a second site across the road which holds the majority of the stock. There is a large well equipped service department incorporating four service bays with car lifts and an MOT inspection pit: the Company's technicians are fully skilled and conversant with most makes of cars. The Service Manager, Ken Shepherd runs a most important part of the business and has over 30 years workshop experience. The Service Department role is to provide the after sales service for which the business is renowned and to provide back up for the 2 years no quibble parts and labour warranty which most customers take advantage of. 14 courtesy cars are also available for customers use.
The cars are valeted and prepared to the highest standards in a purpose built on-site valeting department. All are checked on the National HPI register, a service provided at no additional charge. Prior to delivery the cars are put through a scrupulous pre-delivery inspection and serviced & MOT'd as necessary.
